Getting to Why

What is it?

Getting to Why is aimed at people from all walks of life who express their anxiety through any of the following questions:

"Why am I like this?"

"Why do I always do this?"

"Why does this always happen to me?"

I don't know the answer. But I know that you do.

My skill as a coach is asking the right questions at the right time, so that your answer comes to the fore. It will be your answer, not mine. And finding it will feel amazing.

What you see as weaknesses began as strengths in a different context. Your recurring challenges aren't character flaws - they're strategies that once served you. In just one 'Getting to Why' session, we'll uncover how these patterns originally protected you, why they persist today, and how understanding their purpose finally gives you the power to evolve beyond them. Stop blaming yourself and start recognising the hidden intelligence behind your most frustrating behaviours.

How many sessions?

Usually just one. A supplementary (max 60 minute) session will be offered, for free, if required, to tidy up any loose ends from the first session. This is in service of the client and to maximise the client’s appreciation of the resolution of their issue.

How is this coaching structured?

The session will last 90 minutes.

The first 20-30 minutes will be a look at your biography, exploring key moments in your life.

The remaining hour will be a discussion of the problem statements (as expressed by the questions above) and exploring what previously successful strategies in your life have now unconsciously gone rogue, sabotaging your progress and causing you to feel stuck.

How will I know if it worked?

Simply put, you will be able to point to the reason behind your frustrations and anxieties.

At this point clients may decide to pursue more coaching. See my Solutions-Focused Coaching product to explore how you can focus on future solutions and get away from problem-talk, using what works now and building on it.

Consider these transformations:

  • The client who had spent years thinking that they are acting out, only to discover that they were happy, after a long period of unhappiness.

  • The client who suffered extreme anxiety outside of work, but not while at work, realising that their validation was entirely external and that they had forgotten how to self-validate.

  • The client exhibiting self-sabotaging tendencies in relation to their own workload who realised they were unconsciously defying a parent.

Before they worked with me, these clients had spent months either unsuccessfully working on their issue, or just suffering from it in frustration and silence, unable to get to their "why."

Cost

€300 (including a loose ends session, if required.)
